The list of events is on the handout. For example, if you could change something about Columbus’s arrival to America, what would it be?
Who would change it? You need a character (either first or third person). Will they be one of his shipmates? A chief’s daughter? A stowaway?

Sensory Setting-
- When?
(note- Columbus 1492, Mayflower 1620, Virginia Colony 1607)
- Where?
On a ship, in Jamestown, in Plymouth, with the Natives, in a field, in a house you built (be specific)
- Sensory language to describe where you are:
What do you see, hear, feel, smell?
- What's going on when the story opens?
Are you cooking dinner, hunting for dinner, throwing up on the ship, arguing with John Smith?
- Complete a story plot map (was on the board)
1. Exposition (same as sensory setting)
2. Rising Action (define the problem)
3. Turning Point (what you change to change history)
4. Falling Action (how people respond)
5. Resolution (how it affects history in the long run)
