Group Activity- Reading/Writing (pg. 255-256 from Walden in textbook)
- Students were put in groups of three based on the word they chose from the following list:
ants, railroads, Spartans,simplicity, German Confederation
- Find the word in Thoreau's writing and tell us what he says about it both literally and figuratively speaking. Record your answer in paragraph form on a paper that includes the names of all group members.
*Use the attached articles to provide further insight into your word/topic.
Discussion/Groups Share w/Class- Report what you determined about your word. Groups took turns briefly sharing.
Group Activity- Reading/Writing (pg. 257 form Walden's "Solitude")
- Groups were given two more words to analyze: maids and Milky Way.
All groups received the same word. Groups were restricted to one sentence in their word analysis. Answers recorded on same group paper.
