Discuss- What is a creation myth? Oral tradition of Native Americans
Read- Pg. 20 (textbook) "The Sky Tree"
Write- One paragraph response to the reading (record in your journal)
Remember to begin all journal entries with the date
- Explain what "The Sky Tree" is about and include the title of the story in your paragraph. - Make sure you also write about what "creation" is being explained.
Discuss- What was the story about? What creation was it explaining? Was anyone confused by anything in the story? What is an "allusion"? Can you think of any allusions in the story?
Write- Your own creation myth (rough draft due end of period)
Brainstormed ideas as a class:
why peaches are fuzzy, why giraffes have long necks, night and day, why roses have thorns, why flamingos are pink, why we have tornados, volcanos, etc.
