Group Activity- Reading/Writing (pg. 255-258 from Walden in textbook)
- I put students in groups of three based on the word they chose from the following word list:
ants, railroads, Spartans, simplicity, German Confederation
- Find a quote with the assigned word in Thoreau's writing (pg. 255-258). Explain the quote just like you did for the bell ringer. What is he saying both literally and figuratively. Yes, he really did watch the ants. What did he learn about life as he watched the ants? Record your answer in paragraph form on a paper that includes the names of all group members.
