Rhetoric and Speeches Definitions (reviewed and recorded in journal)- Ethos, Pathos, Logos Ethos- a speaker's "ethics" or credibility Pathos- Path to their heart (reaches the audience through emotions such as humor, sympathy, empathy, anger, or motivation) Logos- Logic (connecting things in a logical manner and supporting claims with evidence so the audience is convinced) Also had them write the definition of "fallacy" in their journals. Fallacy- mistaken belief based on an unsound argument Fallacy Partner Activity- (attached worksheet below)- 15 Minutes - Traded with another group and we graded it. We did not discuss it. Instead, I had them turn to page 503 (textbook) and write a one paragraph persuasive analysis of The Gettysburg Address. Prompt: Was this an effective speech?
