2) Form Your Exploratory Question
(Examples: Have any new stars or planets been discovered lately?
How is cheese made? How much have cell phones changed over the years? Why does a rainbow have colors? What do I have to do if I want to be a doctor? What is toe wrestling?)
3) Research to find the answers to your exploratory questions
( select at least three articles from three different, credible sources and print them out)
Daily Work Grade- Students received a daily work grade today based on showing me their three articles, highlighting the significant points of their articles, being on task throughout the period, and using the computers and class time appropriately.
HOMEWORK-
- Create an outline for your five paragraph exploratory essay (you may have more than five paragraphs and more than three sources)
- Write your rough draft (use MLA format to properly source your information within the text of your essay)
- Create an annotated bibliography for your paper
Writing Tips
- Be sure your hook is interesting and not predictable and/or boring
- Avoid using a persuasive tone or approach
- Write clear topic sentences and make sure you paragraph supports the claim with evidence
- Don't create an all meat sandwich! No fact stacking! Layer it with "you"
- End with a clincher so you grab their attention in the beginning AND at the end
- Your rough draft may be neatly written or typed. Please use MLA headings, 1" margins, double-spacing, and a 12 pt. font.
